There are a few places where information obviously has to go somewhere for AudioSnag to do what you’ve asked it to do. This page explains those.
The website
Just visiting audiosnag.org doesn’t create a profile about you.
The company hosting the site may still receive the normal technical information involved in serving a webpage — things like an IP address, browser information, the page requested and security logs. I don’t use that to advertise to you or follow you around the internet.
Emailing me
If you email sausage@audiosnag.org, I obviously receive your email address and whatever you put in the message.
I use it to answer you and, where necessary, work out what went wrong.
Please don’t randomly email me passwords, card details, API keys or confidential audio. If I genuinely need a file to help with something, we can work out a sensible way to transfer it first.
AudioSnag on your Mac
The core AudioSnag app is designed to do its audio work locally on your Mac.
Imported originals are not rewritten. AudioSnag works from its own managed files and writes finished files to the location you choose.
When licensing is switched on, the app will need to contact AudioSnag to check that a licence is valid. That requires a small amount of licence and installation information. It does not require me to see your audio.
Some optional features may use an online service for things such as transcription or analysis. If a feature needs to send audio or other material away from your Mac, I want that to be clear before you choose to use it.
The free tools
The older web tools were built at different times and they don’t all process audio in exactly the same way.
Some do the work entirely in your browser. Some upload a file to an AudioSnag server while they process it. Some optional features use another provider, such as a transcription service.
Each tool will tell you which applies before you use it.
Payments
AudioSnag isn’t for sale yet. YET!!
When purchases open, Stripe will handle the actual card payment. I’ll need enough information to know that you paid, issue your licence and help you if something goes wrong. I do not need or want your full card details. lol.
What I do not do with your stuff
I don’t sell your information.
I don’t use your audio to train AI models.
I don’t listen to uploaded audio for fun, mine it for content, use it for advertising, turn it into product demos or quietly keep a library of everybody’s work.
If a file needs to be processed to perform the job you asked for, that is what it is there for.

Email sausage@audiosnag.org and tell me which AudioSnag product or tool you used and roughly what happened.
I’ll do my best to find the relevant record or file and deal with it properly. There may occasionally be information I’m legally required to retain — for example payment or accounting records — but I’m not interested in keeping anything I don’t need.
One final bit
I am trying to build this stuff in a way I’d be comfortable using myself with work that actually matters.
I won’t pretend that means I can promise no server, host or internet service will ever have a security problem. It means I’ll collect as little as I reasonably can, be straight about where files go, and fix things when I find something that isn’t good enough.
